15 Makeup Trends for 2022 That NEED to Be on Your Radar!

Wondering what makeup trends are in right now? Look no further! Here are 15 trends that are going to be white-hot this year!

1. Bold Brows

Eyebrows have always been an important part of makeup. But in 2022, they’re going to be even bigger and bolder than ever before! So, if you want to stay ahead of the curve, start growing out your brows and filling them in with a natural, hair-like strokes.

2. Graphic Liners

Graphic liners are making a comeback in a big way! In a nutshell, graphic liner is a look that goes beyond natural-appearing eyeliner. Rather, it’s bolder and creates more of a statement. One popular example is the “floating crease”.

If you’re looking to add some drama to your makeup applications in 2022, go for a graphic liner in a bright color or eye-catching pattern!

3. Cut Creases

Cut creases are another makeup trend that’s been around for a few years now. However, they’re still going strong in 2022! Essentially, cut creases involve using shadow to create a “cut” into the eyelid.

This look is often paired with bold lips and graphic liner for a dramatic effect. So, if you’re up for the challenge, give cut creases a try!

4. Dewy Skin

In 2022, dewy skin is going to be HUGE! This look involves using products and techniques to create a healthy, radiant glow. Dewy skin can be achieved with or without foundation. So, if you’re looking for a more natural makeup look, go for dewy skin!

Products that are perfect for achieving this look include:

  • Highlighters
  • Illuminators
  • Moisturizers with luminous finishes

5. Bronzed Goddesses

Bronzed goddesses are still popular in 2022! To achieve this look, MUAs use bronzer to give the cheeks and temples a natural-looking glow. If you’re looking to give this makeup trend a try this year, start by using a matte bronzer that’s two shades darker than your natural skin tone. Apply it to the apples of your cheeks, along with your temples and the bridge of your nose.

You can also try out the bronzed goddess smoky eye as well! This is essentially a smoky eye created using brown tones, with a copper shadow that creates a halo ring effect around the entire eye.

6. Metallics

Metallics are also going to be super big this year! In particular, golds and silvers will be popular hues for eye shadow, eyeliner, and lips. So, if you want to add some shimmer and sparkle to your makeup looks in 2022, go metallic!

7. Nudes

Nude makeup is always popular. It’s one of those makeup trends that’s been around forever and will likely always be here to stay. That said, in 2022 it’ll be even bigger than ever!

This particular look involves using shades that are close to your natural skin tone. Nude makeup is perfect for everyday wear, as it subtly enhances your features without looking too overdone. If you’re new to nude makeup, start by using a concealer, foundation, and powder that are all one shade lighter than your natural skin tone.

Then, add definition with a light brown eye shadow and a nude lip color. If subtly is your aim, keep your eye makeup simple. Thin, precise eyeliner on the upper lids and a swipe of mascara will top off this look seamlessly!

8. Cut-Out Lips

In 2022, cut-out lips will still be popular! This trend involves using lipstick or gloss to create a “cut-out” effect around the lips. You can either go bold with bright colors or keep it simple with a nude shade.

If you’re new to this trend, start by using a lip liner to carefully outline your lips. Then, fill in the center of your lips with lipstick or gloss. Finally, use a brush (or your fingers) to blend the edges of the cut-out so that it looks natural and seamless.

9. Glitter Eyes

Glitter eyes will also be a popular makeup trend in 2022. This involves using glittery eye shadow to create a festive and fun look. The beauty here is that you can go as subtle or bold as you want, depending on the occasion!

If you’re new to this trend, start by using a light-colored eye shadow as your base. Then, add a layer of glittery eye shadow on top. Be sure to blend well so that there are no harsh lines or edges!

10. Bright Lashes

This year, bright lashes will still be trending! This look involves using colorful mascara (or false lashes) to make your eyelashes pop. You can go for a natural or dramatic look, depending on your preference.

To give this trend a try, start by using a black mascara, and apply it generously to your upper and lower lashes. Afterwards, use a colored mascara (preferably a bright color, such as blue, green, or pink) to add some extra pizzazz.

11. Monochromatic Makeup

Monochromatic makeup is another trend that’s here to stay in 2022. This look involves using shades of the same color to create a cohesive and harmonious look. You can use any color you want – but we recommend sticking to neutrals like blacks, whites, browns, and grays.

First, apply a light shade of color all over your eyelids. Next, use a darker shade to contour your eyes. Finally, add a bolder hue to the center of your lids for maximum impact.

12. Negative Space Liner

Negative space eyeliner is a trend that’s been on the rise for a few years now, and shows no signs of slowing down in 2022! This unique makeup trend involves using eyeliner to create “negative” spaces around your eyes. This can be done in any style you want – from thin, precise lines to thick, dramatic strokes.

If you’re new to this trend, start by using a black eyeliner to create the negative spaces. You can then experiment with different colors and styles to find what works best for you.

13. Blush Draping

Blush draping is another makeup trend that’s been gaining popularity in recent years. This look involves using blush to contour and sculpt your face. You can use any color you want, although we personally recommend sticking to shades like peach, pink, and coral.

To create blush draping, start by applying a light layer of blush to the apples of your cheeks. Then, use a darker shade to contour your cheekbones and jawline. Lastly, add a highlight color to the top of your cheeks to finish off the look!

14. Double Winged Eyeliner

Double winged eyeliner has been popular since the 1960s; periodically making a routine comeback in the decades since. Well, it’s back now – and needless to say, in 2022, it looks to be here to stay!

This hot makeup trend involves creating an outward wing both above and below the eye. You can use any color or style of eyeliner you want, but we recommend sticking to black for a classic look. To take this look one step further, you can also fill in the negative space between the two wings with a white hue.

This will help create the added effect of opening the eye up even more!

15. Diffused Lips

Finally, when it comes to the makeup trends that are in right now, our list would be incomplete without mentioning diffused lips! This look involves using lip liner to create a soft and blurred effect around the edges of your lips. You can either go with a nude shade or a bright color – it’s up to you!

If you’ve never tried diffused lips before, start by first lining your lips with a light-colored lip liner. Afterwards, fill in the center of your lips with a lipstick or gloss. Finally, use a brush (or your fingers) to blend the edges of the lip liner so that it looks natural and seamless.
