Happy birthday, makeup artists! And hey, if it’s not your birthday today, it will be in a few weeks (or months). Whatever the date, we’re hoping you enjoy a day filled with family, friends, food—and presents, of course!
Any makeup lover’s birthday should feature at least a little indulgence—and no, we’re not just talking about an extra slice of chocolate cake. It’s the perfect time to splurge on that fancy perfume or palette you’ve been eyeing for months.
What’s even better is that many of your favorite brands want to wish you a happy birthday as well—and they’re saying it with discounts, deals, and exclusive birthday gifts to make your day a winner. If you’re not signed up for these makeup birthday freebies already, well, what are you waiting for?
Most people know about Sephora’s birthday beauty gift, but it’s a big enough hit that it’s worth mentioning anyway. If you sign up for that (free) Beauty Insider card, you’ll get a special gift if you visit a store within two weeks of your birthday.
Every year Sephora features one or two choices of birthday gifts, and those sample-sizes definitely give you enough product to play around with. This year, you’ve got a choice between a Marc Jacobs lipstick-and-liner set or a Fresh facial cleanser set. Last year, your birthday landed you with two Satin Lip Pencils from NARS. Not bad, huh?
If you’re not already signed up for an UltaMate Rewards card, Ulta’s birthday gift should be all the incentive you need! Admittedly, their birthday reward system is a little less convenient than Sephora’s—once you’ve waited for Ulta to send you your birthday certificate, you need to bring it into a store with you to claim your gift.
Still, their birthday rewards are a fine addition to any makeup artist’s birthday festivities. This year, winter babies were gifted a mini Benefit Rollerball mascara, while those of us born in the spring landed a Sexy Hair Big Sexy Hair Spray.
3. Urban Decay
Not signed up for Urban Decay’s Beauty Junkies rewards program yet? Don’t beat yourself up about it—Urban Decay just launched their new rewards program recently.
Unlike some birthday freebies, Urban Decay’s does actually require a purchase. If you’re a fan of a few of the brand’s products, though, that’s no problem. The birthday gift is definitely worth it: a free full-size single eyeshadow, in any shade you want!
Smashbox treats members of its Pretty Points rewards program well. Every order (U.S. only—sorry!) gets you free shipping and samples, plus every Tuesday and Thursday you’ll get a free gift added to your order.
Like Urban Decay, Smashbox requires you to make a purchase to redeem your special birthday gift (as if we needed an excuse). They change their gift up every once in a while, but right now you can grab a two-color lip gloss.
This one’s for you, natural beauty lovers! Whether you love Aveda for their hair products or their skincare, their Pure Privilege rewards program is perfect for you. As well as earning points on all your purchases, you’ll be treated to an aroma sensory journey and your choice of composition oil to celebrate your own special day.
Your skin does a lot for you—why not show it a little love on your birthday with a treat from Fresh? Signing up for the Fresh Family rewards program lets you collect points, like most reward programs, and also gets you a special gift on your birthday.
While you need to make a purchase if you’re claiming your gift online, you can also just walk into a Fresh boutique and pick yours up for free. Past birthday gifts include a duo of their iconic Sugar Lip Treatments.
There’s something extra-special about a birthday gift personalized just for you, and that’s exactly what bareMinerals does for its FAB (Friends and Benefits) members. During your birthday month, keep an eye out for an email with details about redeeming your birthday online or in-stores.
Ever heard the rumour that you can get a free brow arch from Benefit on your birthday? Well, it’s true. In fact, you’ve got all week to redeem your gift from Benefit. All you need to do is walk into your nearest Benefit BrowBar with your ID in hand.
FYI, though, not all BrowBar locations offer the service anymore. Ulta has bowed out of this special birthday service, so you’ll have to look elsewhere to redeem that free brow arch.
