May is finally here, and you know what that means—Mother’s Day is just around the corner!
Just like us, our mothers love looking and feeling their best. Along with a laid-back Mother’s Day brunch, you might want to treat your mom to a luxurious beauty gift (we all know she’s earned it). Whether your mom loves makeup as much as you do or prefers to stay au natural, there are tons of ways to pamper her this Mother’s Day.

Victoria: Avon’s Candid Collection
My mom was an Avon lady in the late 1970s and early 1980s, so growing up there was always an abundance of Avon products (and catalogs!) in our house. Her loyalty to the brand continues even today, and she purchases Avon creams, makeup, fragrances, shampoos and body washes regularly. For this reason, I would choose Avon’s Candid Collection as a tried and true Mother’s Day gift for the most important woman in my life!
This collection includes a roller deodorant, perfume, body powder and of course, Candid Perfumed Skin Softener, which is one of Avon’s most well-loved products. My mom’s beautiful, youthful skin can be attributed both to fabulous genes (which I hope were passed down a generation!) and the long-term effects of Avon use.
As one of the world’s oldest skincare companies, Avon has built and maintained a strong reputation for high quality over many generations of women. Avon boasts several skincare lines, but its Candid line of perfumed products is known for its lovely blend of fresh jasmine, rose and sandalwood and has been around for over 25 years.
For me, the packaging of the Candid products is immediately recognizable! I owe that to both Avon’s consistent high quality, and my mom’s excellent taste.
Ana: Tocca’s “Cleopatra” Collection
Growing up, Mother’s Days in my household have always been filled with breakfasts in bed and homemade cards and gifts. But as an adult, handing over a folded up piece of paper decorated in glitter glue and filled with “I luv u mommy” may not have the same appeal as it once would. Now, I love to introduce my mom to things that she wouldn’t normally purchase for herself. While she doesn’t wear much makeup, once in awhile she’ll indulge in a luxurious scent reserved for special occasions.
I recently purchased the Tocca perfume in “Cleopatra” after having used up a sample I received (you got me again, Sephora!). I’m so happy with the versatility of this scent, and I know that it would be perfect for women of all ages—including me (a 20-something) and my mother (a beautiful and lively woman in her 50s). While a 1.7 oz bottle might be out of your price range, Tocca offers a variety of sizes. If you love the scent but your mom (or sister, aunt, grandmother—whatever!) isn’t interested in perfume, there is also a body scrub, hand cream, hand soap, body wash, body lotion, and even a candle! Any one of these would make a great Mother’s Day gift!

Alicia: L’Occitane’s Verbena Eau de Toilette
My mom and I share a sensitivity to perfume and some other heavily scented products—a little bit of fragrance lands us both with sore throats and headaches!
L’Occitane’s Verbena eau de toilette is one of the rare exceptions. Its fresh, lemony scent is clean and simple compared with the floral, musky, spicy, or overly rich scents that give my mom and I headaches in other perfumes. If there was ever a perfume for her, this is the one!
A L’Occitane boutique opened near us a few years ago, and since then my mom has become a big fan. Her dresser is full of their skincare products, and I think there’s a tube of L’Occitane’s hand cream in just about every room in the house! She found the Verbena EDT on one of her many trips to the store, and since then she’s used many of the other products in the Verbena collection. This simple, invigorating perfume is the perfect Mother’s Day gift to add to her collection!
For something a little more versatile, the Verbena Star gift set is also a good choice. In addition to a smaller 20 ml bottle of the Verbena perfume, it includes a shower gel, body lotion, hand cream, and perfumed sachet from the Verbena collection.
