Warm up your Winter Makeup! - QC Makeup Academy

January and February can be super cold and dark here in Canada. Today we are going to talk about how to beat those winter blues and warm up your look!

Start by exfoliating your skin. This is such an essential step in creating a nice smooth base for your makeup. If you are in contact with your clients before your appointment with them, be sure to direct them to exfoliate and hydrate their skin before coming in.

I like using an oil to hydrate my skin, especially in the winter. Currently I am using the Serum in an Oil by Body Shop. I also like Josie Maran Argon Oil. They both leave you feeling so hydrating and a little goes a very long way! Only a couple drops and your skin will be hydrated without an oily residue.

Next up add a bit of colour to your skin, grab your favourite self tanner or even a makeup tanner that washes away and apply to visible areas of the skin. Giving yourself a bit of a glow will help us incorporate some warmer colours into the makeup look!

Moisturizer & Foundation

Get creative, rather than using super bright shadows or something that obviously screams summer, go for warmer shades of blush, lipstick and shadow. Some poppy pink blushes will be sure to add some colour to your look but still look winter appropriate.

Keeping your eyes more neutral, or here I added a bit of a peach colour to tie in the lip colour I intend on using, you are able to go for a bolder blush look…

Applying Eyeshadow

Finish off the look with a nice sunny lip colour! I used Too Faced Melted Lipstick in Melted Coral. Here is the finished look…

Quick Tip: Be sure to keep on your on SPF even in the winter! I like to use a tinted moisturizer with an SPF and mix it into whatever foundation I’m currently using πŸ˜‰

Hope you guys enjoyed this post and don’t shy away from colour this winter! Brighten up your day and those around you with fun warm makeup looks to kick start a dreary winter day πŸ˜‰
