Tutors

Our tutors are dedicated to your success. You’ll be learning from the best in the industry! You’ll upload your assignments electronically to our Online Student Center including photos of your makeup applications. Your tutor will review your work and will send you an audio file with advice on what you are doing well and where you can improve. You’ll form a close relationship as you work together.

QC’s Fashion Styling course is mentored by fashion expert Alison Stewart. The course is taught by Beth Chapman and Katrina Lee-Jones.

Nathan Johnson, Executive Makeup Artist

Nathan Johnson

Nathan Johnson is a New York City–based celebrity makeup artist with over 18 years of industry experience. Nathan has worked on over 300 famous faces including Paula Abdul, Lea Michele, Kyra Sedgwick, Kevin Bacon, Paul McCartney, and more. More than anything he loves to bring out the beauty and confidence of the everyday woman.

Nathan’s work has been featured in Glamour, Elle, Genre, Harper’s Bazaar, Access Hollywood, Running with Heels, and more. He was a makeup artist on seasons four and five of Project Runway.

As the executive makeup artist for QC Makeup Academy, Nathan is responsible for ensuring that all the instructional materials are in line with best industry practices. He’s also featured in the instructional videos for all of QC’s makeup courses. You’ll love learning from his practical approach to makeup artistry.

Azzi Williams, Professional Makeup Artist

Azzi Williams

Azzi Williams is a Sydney-based makeup artist with over 10 years of experience. Her career has taken her to exciting cities around the world including London, Barcelona and Istanbul.

Prior to launching her own successful business, Williamspro Makeup, Azzi worked as an international model. She credits her sharp eye for detail to her many years of experience in the modelling industry.

She has transformed countless models, dancers and actors. Azzi has also worked with film, television and video production companies from Italy, France and the UK. Television credits include Network Ten (Australia), BBC and ITV (UK). Advertising credits include Skin Chemists (UK), Celebrity Hair (UK), Eurostar (Belgium) and Diesel (France). Celebrity clients include Rihanna’s backup dancers and Australian Entertainment reporter, Angela Bishop.

Azzi believes, “It’s not just about the end result, but the entire journey to capture you in your best light, enhance your best features, and create a look that evokes a unique you.”

Michele Mulkey, Special FX Expert

Michele Mulkey

With 14 years of experience working as a special effects makeup artist and prop maker in New York City and Los Angeles, Michele Mulkey is the perfect tutor to introduce you to the world of special effects! She has worked for countless reputable special effects shops, such as Keith Vanderlaan’s Captive Audience, Unit 7, Crisis FX, Alterian, Inc., Film Illusions, and Global Effects. She also has a well-rounded repertoire of film, television, and theater work!

Throughout her career, Michele’s work has been featured in such feature films as The Last Samurai, The Chronicles of Riddick, Sin City, The Alamo, Seed of Chucky, Constantine, The Passion of the Christ, and more. She has also worked on known television programs like CSI Miami, Firefly, Law and Order: Criminal Intent, and Charmed. She even worked on the off-Broadway production of “Beast!” Through these experiences Michele has transformed the faces of celebrities such as Denzel Washington, Vin Diesel, Thora Birch, Brittany Snow, and Christopher Atkins, among many others. Michele’s expertise and friendly confidence is just what you’ll need to begin developing your skills in the world of special effects makeup artistry!

Pat Armstrong, Professional Makeup Artist

Pat Armstrong

Since 1997, Pat Armstrong has been the owner and operator of Image Essentials Spa in downtown Ottawa, Canada. She is known for her ability to make every client feel beautiful, special, and confident through her expertise and kind heart.

Pat has studied makeup artistry and worked in cosmetics with major lines like Germaine Monteil, Lise Watier, Sheseido, and Lancaster. Her impressive client list includes Olympic medalist Elizabeth Manley, and Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper. She has worked the main stage for the National Women’s Show, and is currently teaching at Algonquin College in the aesthetics program.

Pat says, “I feel that everyone is beautiful and I am grateful that I can help people feel that way about themselves, too.”

Alison Stewart, Fashion Expert

Alison Stewart

Alison Stewart is a New York City fashion stylist with over 10 years experience in personal and editorial styling. Working from Manhattan, one of the world’s main fashion hubs, she has styled for red carpet appearances, print and web campaigns, catalogues, look-books, and founded Stylewhipped.com.

Alison regularly guest lectures at LIM Fashion College in New York City, is a former fashion columnist for Running With Heels, and is frequently featured on the Sirius Satellite Radio show, Cosmolicious as a fashion expert. In between adding to her extensive list of personal and editorial projects, she also plays the role of on-camera personality and hosts events for brands such as Project Runway, Running With Heels, and Jeremy Argyle.

Beth Chapman, Fashion Expert & Tutor

Beth Chapman

Beth Chapman is a veteran of the retail industry. She spent 10 years working in the corporate office of Ann Taylor, where she served as a Vice President of Merchandising. Beth’s love of exquisite fabrics and feminine details, along with her sincere desire to create a memorable shopping experience for brides, compelled her to launch The White Dress by the shore, in 2004. Recognized for her dedication to her business, family and community service, Beth was selected as one of the 5 finalists for the 2006 Connecticut Working Woman of the Year.

Beth’s extraordinary fashion sense has led to her styling photo shoots throughout the world. She is co-author of The White Dress in Color, an inspirational coffee table book filled with photographs that celebrate the creative spirit through beautiful bridal stories and innovative planning tips from industry experts.

Her styling work has also been seen in: Inside Weddings Magazine, BrideLIFE Magazine, BRIDES Magazine, WellWed Magazine, Gala Weddings, style me pretty and 100 Layer Cake, among others.

Katrina Lee-Jones, Fashion Expert & Tutor

Katrina Lee-Jones

Katrina Lee-Jones is an Orlando, Florida-based fashion stylist—although she considers herself to be more of a “fashion therapist.” Katrina believes our clothes communicate how we feel about ourselves and has made it her career to help women discover their inner fabulous selves.

With an impressive resume boasting an MBA and years of experience in retail fashion, Katrina is the perfect mentor for those looking to focus on styling “real people” and perhaps interested in exploring a career in retail. Katrina has worked for big names including Neiman Marcus, New York and Company, United Colors of Benetton and Sisley, Gap, and Gymboree, and is passionate about passing her knowledge onto others.

Katrina currently styles countless Orlando residents, with clients ranging from everyday fashionistas to professional business owners and notable attorneys. Katrina is the proud owner of her own fashion styling business, Styles by Katrina.
