Likely you\u2019ll find that most of them are within $5 to $10 of each other for similar services.[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1628263785514{padding-bottom: 10px !important;}&#8221;]Now, you want to go a step further than simply listing your competition\u2019s pricing. Also make a note of their skillset, years in service, etc. since all these factors will affect how they\u2019re perceived by customers. Now, of course, most of them would like cheaper services. Are these the types of services your clients would like to see? Don\u2019t worry about taxes or playing around with pennies at this point. Just ballpark on what you should charge for your services. Looks a little boring? That\u2019s ok, let\u2019s take care of that right now.[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Remember, these are the prices you\u2019re going to list on your professional website. You want them to be attractive to clients![\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1628264610786{padding-top: 15px !important;padding-bottom: 15px !important;}&#8221;]\n<h3>Those Pesky Symbols<\/h3>\n[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1628264622355{padding-bottom: 10px !important;}&#8221;]Have you ever gone to a restaurant where the menu has a simple two-digit number next to each item, but no cents, and no dollar sign? That\u2019s very much done on purpose. The $ or \u20ac is a scary symbol to people: it gives a more urgent sense that they will soon be parted from their money.[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]So, when listing your services, try rounding prices up to even numbers and don\u2019t use those \u201cdollar\u201d symbols. Simple number values will be more enticing to your clients\u2014and it still looks professional![\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1628264617690{padding-top: 15px !important;padding-bottom: 15px !important;}&#8221;]\n<h3>Playing with dollars and cents<\/h3>\n[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1628264629954{padding-bottom: 10px !important;}&#8221;]Now, there are many theories out there that argue the .99 cent or .95 cent rule. This argument is that if you reduce the cost by a penny to lower it, say, from $40 to $39.99, the customer will see the better value of that second price. I\u2019m not a big fan of that tactic because it\u2019s been pretty well discredited in today\u2019s world, but you can certainly give it a try if you want to![\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Regardless of your preferences, the key here is to make your prices seem as unintimidating as possible.[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1628264636851{padding-top: 15px !important;padding-bottom: 15px !important;}&#8221;]\n<h3>List from Highest to Lowest<\/h3>\n[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Most businesses will list the least expensive service at the top, leading to the more expensive ones. Now, if you list them the opposite way (meaning, the more expensive services first), the client sees services decreasing in price! So by the time she sees a $40 makeover, it seems like a much less expensive option to an $80 makeup lesson. All of a sudden, she\u2019ll be more attracted to that $40 price point.[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1628264699754{padding-top: 15px !important;padding-bottom: 15px !important;}&#8221;]\n<h4>Compare these two lists, for example:<\/h4>\n[\/vc_column_text][image_with_animation image_url=&#8221;7052&#8243; animation=&#8221;Fade In&#8221; hover_animation=&#8221;none&#8221; alignment=&#8221;&#8221; border_radius=&#8221;none&#8221; box_shadow=&#8221;none&#8221; image_loading=&#8221;default&#8221; max_width=&#8221;100%&#8221; max_width_mobile=&#8221;default&#8221;][vc_column_text]Both these lists show the exact same services at the exact same cost (minus a penny on the left column). But which one looks less intimidating to you? Which list do you think your clients would respond to?[\/vc_column_text][divider line_type=&#8221;No Line&#8221; custom_height=&#8221;30&#8243;][vc_column_text css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1628264660761{padding-bottom: 15px !important;}&#8221;]\n<h3>Offer Package Deals<\/h3>\n[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Now that you have the base prices for all your makeup services, try to think about different package deals or offers you can use to get those clients through the door. The key here isn\u2019t to de-value your price list, it\u2019s to give your clients value for money so that they will give your business a try\u2026 and then keep coming back![\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1628264711563{padding-top: 15px !important;padding-bottom: 15px !important;}&#8221;]\n<h4>You might consider:<\/h4>\n[\/vc_column_text]<div class=\"nectar-fancy-ul\" data-list-icon=\"fa fa-angle-right\" data-animation=\"false\" data-animation-delay=\"0\" data-color=\"accent-color\" data-spacing=\"default\" data-alignment=\"left\"> \n<ul>\n \t<li>Offering service bundles at a lower price point<\/li>\n \t<li>Offering discounts for friends or family who book back-to-back appointments (or larger discounts for larger groups)<\/li>\n \t<li>Starting a loyalty program for returning clients<\/li>\n \t<li>The sky\u2019s the limit!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n <\/div>[vc_column_text css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1628264722088{padding-bottom: 10px !important;}&#8221;]I only have one caveat for package deals: be ready to honor them. Once you offer a discount or a loyalty incentive, it\u2019s a commitment from you to follow up on that promise.
