SNOWING. In APRIL. The sky looks gloomy, and my morning coffee hasn\u2019t yet kicked in.\n\nI\u2019ve been having a hard time sleeping lately, and as my eyelids feel a little heavier than usual, I\u2019m definitely feeling it today.\n\nWhen you\u2019re stuck indoors thanks to social distancing, these can be the makings of a lousy day. It\u2019s up to me to try and turn it around! And the thing is, if I just put in a little bit of effort, I <em>can <\/em>turn it around.\n\nPerhaps you can relate a little to what I\u2019m talking about. Being cooped up at home can become taxing. With everything going on in the world lately, it\u2019s no surprise that in the latest <a href=\"http:\/\/morneaushepell.mediaroom.com\/2020-04-02-Canadians-are-feeling-unprecedented-levels-of-anxiety-according-to-Mental-Health-Index\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mental Health Index<\/a> released by Morneau Shepell, mental health has recently dropped by 16%.\n\nThe thing is, your mental health is IMPORTANT. You matter, and your well-being matters. Even just the <em>smell <\/em>of fresh air can do wonders for your mood!\n\nIf the sun is shining, simply getting out and stretching your legs for as little as 20 minutes can turn your day around. Just make sure to keep at least 6-feet away from anyone who happens to cross your path!\n\n<strong><em>Important Note<\/em><\/strong><em>:\u00a0 That being said, you may live in a hard-hit area. If so, there might be a strict stay-at-home order that prohibits going outside for any non-essential reason. If this the case where you live, please follow these directives!<\/em>\n\n<em>Yes, they may suck, they\u2019re put in place to help save your life. <\/em><em>Don\u2019t be like that guy who <\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/globalnews.ca\/news\/6708504\/t-rex-costume-coronavirus-spain\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>dressed up in a T-Rex costume<\/em><\/a><em> to try and break his city\u2019s quarantine laws. Even if you only feel like exercising 20 minutes each day, it can help boost your mood and benefit your body.\n\nAs the legendary Elle Woods once said: \u201cExercise gives you endorphins. If you find peace in focusing on your studies, then this is definitely another suggestion that can be added to this list!\n\nBut we also completely understand that sometimes, schoolwork can be a factor <em>adding <\/em>to your current stress.\n\nIf so, it\u2019s more than okay to take a little break on it. You can always go back to it once you\u2019re feeling better! (After all, QC gives you a full <a href=\"\/learning-online\/how-it-works\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">2 years<\/a> to complete your program.) But in the meantime, one thing that might help if you\u2019re feeling down is doing your makeup just for <em>yourself.<\/em>\n\nOver the past few weeks, I\u2019m pretty sure I\u2019ve morphed into some sort of couch goblin. Sure, I shower every day and make sure to exchange my pajamas for a <em>cleaner <\/em>set of pajamas\u2026 But my makeup routine has been completely ignored lately.\n\nYesterday, though, I decided to do my makeup after getting up and showering. It\u2019s not like I had anywhere to be. But I was tired of feeling so grungy and <em>bleh. <\/em>It\u2019s a small thing, but it actually made me feel a LOT better by the time I was done!\n\nYou love makeup for a reason, and that reason isn\u2019t strictly limited to your <a href=\"\/online-makeup-courses\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">makeup training<\/a>. Don\u2019t worry, I got you! You can:\n<ul>\n \t<li>Have a living room dance party<\/li>\n \t<li>Bake banana bread from scratch (this is actually <a href=\"https:\/\/www.delish.com\/food-news\/a31931597\/coronavirus-banana-bread-baking\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">incredibly popular<\/a> right now, interestingly enough)<\/li>\n \t<li>Put together a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=-dwfUO-zfLc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">gummy bear concert<\/a><\/li>\n \t<li>Do a puzzle<\/li>\n \t<li>Take up a hobby you\u2019ve always wanted to do<\/li>\n \t<li>Read a book, or re-read one of your all-time favorites again<\/li>\n \t<li>Start a <a href=\"https:\/\/positivepsychology.com\/gratitude-journal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Gratitude Journal<\/a><\/li>\n \t<li>Try out random makeup ideas and do an impromptu selfie photoshoot to show off the results<\/li>\n \t<li>If you have kids, make a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=FUGo5QD_o5g\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">home obstacle course<\/a> to keep them busy<\/li>\n \t<li>You can also do this for pets, too!<\/li>\n \t<li>Speaking of pets, you can give them a proper cuddle<\/li>\n \t<li>Learn all the lyrics to the Alphabet Aerobics. For example, you and your loved ones can:\n<ul>\n \t<li>Text<\/li>\n \t<li>Chat over the phone<\/li>\n \t<li>Video call, so you can see each other\u2019s faces<\/li>\n \t<li>Play online games together (<a href=\"https:\/\/parade.com\/1012420\/nicolepajer\/best-online-games\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">here are 22 examples<\/a> to get you started)<\/li>\n \t<li>Organize a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.netflixparty.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Netflix party<\/a>\/movie night<\/li>\n \t<li>Remember that dance party you had in your living room? Why not invite them to it with an app like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jqbx.fm\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">JQBX (Jukebox),<\/a> and you can all dance together!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\nYes, it\u2019s obviously not the same \u2013 or as good \u2013 as the real thing.
