Once it\u2019s expired, it absolutely should NOT be used anymore!\n\nExpired makeup products can become a breeding ground for bacteria<\/a> and other unwanted germs. The last thing you want to do is give yourself (or your client) an infection. It\u2019s always better to be safe than sorry.\n\nAs a general rule of thumb, certain products tend to have a specific shelf-life. For instance:\n\n \tMascara <\/strong>and liquid eyeliner <\/strong>are typically good for up to 3-6 months<\/li>\n \tConcealer <\/strong>and foundation <\/strong>are typically good for up to 6-12 months<\/li>\n \tLipstick<\/strong>, lip gloss<\/strong>, and eyeshadow <\/strong>are typically good for up to 1-2 years<\/li>\n<\/ul>\nThat being said, there are always exceptions to every rule. So, make sure to check each of your product\u2019s expiration dates. By that I mean, getting overly excited when stocking up, and buying way <\/em>more products than we realistically need!\n\nChances are, there\u2019s at least 1 product in your professional makeup kit that you rarely (or never) use. If that\u2019s the case, all it\u2019s doing is taking up unnecessary room. So, go through all of your products, and objectively ask yourself: \u201cDo I need this in my kit<\/a>?\u201d\n\nIf you know the answer is truly no, it\u2019s probably safe for you to remove it. Your professional makeup kit should be orderly, and filled only with products relevant to your job<\/a>.\n\nThis doesn\u2019t mean you need to throw the product out altogether, though! After all, you did pay valuable money for it. But maybe it would be better off in your personal <\/em>makeup kit. It\u2019s never an option to use dirty products on your client\u2019s skin!
