QC Makeup Academy student ambassador\u00a0Whitney Conn<\/a>\u00a0is a student in the Special FX, Airbrush, and Skincare courses. She\u2019s also a proud graduate of the\u00a0Master Makeup Artistry<\/a>\u00a0course. Today, we\u2019re catching up with her to see how she\u2019s progressing through her makeup courses and her makeup career. <\/em><\/h4>\n[\/vc_column_text][divider line_type=”Full Width Line” line_thickness=”1″ divider_color=”accent-color” custom_height=”75″][vc_column_text]\n

To those who don\u2019t know you, can you introduce yourself?<\/h3>\nHi all! My name is Whitney Conn. I currently live in a suburb of Atlanta, Georgia. I am a graduate of the Master Makeup Artisty course and am working on breaking into the TV and film industry<\/a>. I am also a current student at QC Makeup Academy in Special FX Makeup, Airbrush Makeup and Skincare.\n

Can you walk us through a typical week in the life of Whitney?<\/h3>\nMonday through Friday, I work my full-time job as service dispatch for a heating and air-conditioning company. At night, I squeeze in some time for my makeup courses. Recently, I\u2019ve tried recently to fit some studying in during the week. But I\u2019ve discovered I can focus the best on the weekends after a good night\u2019s sleep. I try to shoot for 3 to 5 hours of studying a week as well as getting in a model for practice.\n\nAs for my career in makeup, that is something that I am constantly working on. Whether it is talking to people about my makeup artistry or making connections in the industry. As a current student, how are your online makeup courses going?<\/h3>\nI am currently on the last unit of the\u00a0Airbrush Makeup Workshop<\/a> and am working on finishing up my first unit of the Special FX Makeup course<\/a>. I have started some of my Skincare course<\/a> but have not dove deep into it yet. I prefer to do one course at a time to make sure that I am focused on the skills and techniques that I am learning.\n

What\u2019s one career goal you wish to achieve in the coming months?<\/h3>\nI\u2019d like to be a makeup artist on another short film. There is so much going on in my area! I am doing research to find these short films. The short film industry has always been attractive to me. So I\u2019m looking for any experience I can get in the field.\n

What\u2019s the most difficult decision you\u2019ve had to make for your makeup career so far?<\/h3>\nThe most difficult decision so far has been adjusting my social life to get my school work or a makeup job done. As I work a full-time job, the only free time I have is during my nights and weekends. What\u2019s one makeup technique you\u2019ve recently mastered? What\u2019s something you\u2019re still working on?<\/h3>\nI feel that I have mastered color-matching and mixing new foundation colors<\/a>\u00a0to match my makeup clients. It just came so naturally to me. There were times when I wasn\u2019t sure if I was actually applying airbrush foundation because the product was the exact same color as their skin!\n\nI\u2019m also constantly working on eye shadow placement and blending. Every time I practice, I feel I\u2019m getting better at it.\n

What\u2019s the most memorable makeup job you\u2019ve had so far?<\/h3>\nI would have to say the photoshoot I did with a clothing line was my most memorable makeup job. I learned a lot on that set and still keep in contact with a couple of people from that shoot. I felt like I learned how important it is to be quick while doing a clean application<\/a>. Every minute counted as the space was only rented for a certain time frame.\n

Do you have any advice for makeup students who have trouble finding motivation to finish their online makeup course?<\/h3>\nContinue to work even in the hard times. You will eventually get through those days. Even if that means doing your own face or someone that you live with. Any practice is better than no practice![\/vc_column_text][divider line_type=”No Line” custom_height=”20″][image_with_animation image_url=”36245″ alignment=”center” animation=”None” border_radius=”none” box_shadow=”none” max_width=”100%”][divider line_type=”No Line” custom_height=”20″][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″ shape_divider_position=”bottom”][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” column_border_radius=”none” width=”1\/1″ tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][vc_column_text]Also, you are never alone in your struggles. There are tons of students who are going through the same thing you are. Never hold back from reaching out to talk to someone about it. That is why the QC Support Page on Facebook<\/a> is there.\n\nMost importantly, believe in yourself! You are capable of doing anything you put your mind to.\n
