Sign 1: You hate your boss<\/h3>\nDon\u2019t worry, we didn\u2019t hear it from you. Your reputation is safe! But we both know your boss is terrible. She has let her title go straight to her head! She\u2019s not good to her employees and, quite frankly, her customers.\n\nThe great thing about makeup artistry<\/a> is that you don\u2019t need to work for someone else! You can easily be your own boss. And if you\u2019ve built up a great reputation with your clients, they\u2019ll probably follow you to your new business. Sign 2: You think you can do it better<\/h3>\nWe started off with the most negative item on the list, but it\u2019s not always black and white. You don\u2019t have to hate your current working situation to start your own makeup business. You might even love your boss\u2014she is delightful to work for and does a good job\u2026 but you could do a great job. You might feel guilty leaving a situation where you\u2019re treated really well, but don\u2019t be!\n\nStarting your own business is not a betrayal, it\u2019s growth! Your company might be sad to see you go, but they\u2019re probably expecting it. There often comes a point in any makeup artist\u2019s career when she tries to make it on her own. Sign 3: You want more control or flexibility<\/h3>\nWhen you work for someone else, you have to play by their rules. That means your hours, services, and clients are completely in their control. You might not be allowed to turn clients away, offer specific services, or determine your hours. If you\u2019re looking to be the person who calls all the shots, working for yourself allows you to get final say!\n\nIf you have family or other commitments outside of work, this can be a huge asset. You\u2019ll be able to set your hours and your vacation time. You no longer have to pass up on opportunities if you don\u2019t want to. This isn\u2019t to say that going it alone means not having to do much and never having to compromise. Starting a business is a lot of hard work! You have to make the hard decisions. Sign 4: You don\u2019t have lots of competition but you\u2019re having trouble getting hired<\/h3>\nIf you live in New York, you won\u2019t have this problem! But if you live somewhere a little more remote, there may not be many makeup artists at all in your city. And those few existing makeup companies artists may not have room to add you to their business.\n\nIf you desperately want to work, but can\u2019t get hired by someone else, make your own opportunities! You won\u2019t have to compete as hard for clients like you would in a big city. You\u2019ll won\u2019t have to bid for clients in your town and you\u2019ll be able to create a demand for your services! By starting your own makeup business, you won\u2019t have to worry about looking for work because you will create it!\n\nInvestigate your local beauty industry. Are there many makeup artists close by? Is there a niche that isn\u2019t being offered like airbrush makeup<\/a> or global beauty artistry<\/a>?
