Two years ago, Sheila Rodriguez was a lot like you—a woman with a passion for makeup, and some seriously big dreams. She had taken some makeup and cosmetology classes in the past, but wanted a more focused approach to her future. She felt she was ready to take control of her own career.

She began her adventure in 2011 by enrolling in QC Makeup Academy's Master Makeup Artistry course. She worked diligently, completing her six units of course material. She learned industry-specific skills like how to enhance dimensionality with highlights and contouring, how to transform daytime looks into glitzy evening creations, and how to build a reputation in the fashion industry. She submitted her assignments to the school, and used her tutor's personalized feedback to improve and perfect her skills.

Her hard work was paying off. A mere two months after enrolling, she had graduated from her course and around this time, she also started her very own on-the-go makeup business, DASH of Beauty Makeup Artist. She also works as a makeup artist at Sephora. Sheila is always adding to her list of accomplishments—her exciting freelance career includes fashion shows, weddings, photo shoots, videos, special effects, body painting, and pageants.

Sheila has found success in her rewarding career. "The best part of being a makeup artist," she says, "is when I see the client's happy smile and see that they feel more beautiful and confident about themselves."
