Luxury Rose DIY Body Scrub - QC Makeup Academy

Luxury scrubs can run upwards of a hundred dollars or more! This is my all-time favorite at-home scrub. I find it is just as effective as those fancy body scrubs from the local beauty boutiques. I created this scrub a while back and I decided to take things from some of my favorite name-brand body exfoliants.

Here’s what you’ll need…

One Rose

The color doesn’t matter. Make sure the rose isn’t tight and fresh. The rose should be in full bloom and almost browning slightly on the tips of the petals. This allows for the juiciest, most delish rose oil! Here are some of the benefits of rose petals:

  • Natural fragrance
  • Antioxidants
  • Moisturizing
  • Toning (it’s a natural astringent, so it will help to tighten up pores!)
  • Relaxing
  • Anti-inflammatory

Use a mortar and pestle to crush the rose petals, slightly releasing the natural oils and fragrance. I chopped the rose petals a few times first before crushing them in the pestle.

One Orange

Benefits of adding orange peel:

  • Vitamin C, which will help to naturally exfoliate and brighten skin
  • Calcium, which is a great remedy for dry and dehydrated skin

Use a grater to get larger pieces of the orange rind, stopping when you hit white and moving to a new patch.

Coconut Oil

I used a cheaper brand as there is no point in splurging on the organic brand if it’s not for consumption. This is a topical treatment so the oils and richness are all we are looking for! Scoop out about 6 tablespoons (this will depend on what size jar you are using)

Raw Sugar

Something that is nice and coarse—the coarser the better! You want to incorporate about double the sugar into coconut oil. Use your judgment to create a nice thick but soft texture.

Mason Jar

You don’t want to use a full-sized mason jar as we are using natural ingredients which tend to expire faster than an over-the-counter product filled with preservatives.

Combine ingredients into a mixing bowl and gently fold and stir until mixed.

Not only is this a fabulous treatment to add to your daily routine, but it also makes for a great gift! I had some glitter ribbon and burlap string lying around so I created a pretty little package.

It looks pretty enough to sit on your bathroom countertop and is perfect for a hostess gift to show how thoughtful and crafty you are!
